HOW TO CREATE AND DELIVER YOUR SPEECH

*Please note, these videos were first shared with my ‘Speak Up Like A Diva’ membership group a few years ago. Please don’t be put off, as the advice applies to anyone who wants to be a better speaker.*

This brief and straightforward 4 part video series is designed to get you started on your public speaking journey. Each video is only a few minutes long. We could obviously go into far more depth on each of the topics mentioned here but think of these videos as the quick start guide rather than the full user manual!

Use them to help you create and deliver a speech that will

  • have a clear point
  • be memorable
  • deliver value
  • have an engaging beginning and ending.

If you’re writing a speech from scratch, feel free to pause the video after each slide and write down your ideas. Once you have an outline, take the time to flesh out your entire speech.

Don’t forget to practise. The more times you run through it, the more comfortable you’ll be on stage.

Remember that it’s all about stage time. Take every opportunity you can to speak in front of an audience.

Good luck, and enjoy!

Public Speaking – How to have more STAGE CONFIDENCE

So how do you become confident enough to stand on stage and speak? That’s what we look at in this video.

Afraid and shaking like a leaf

I remember the first time I ever sang in front of an audience… and it wasn’t even on stage. It was in rehearsal.

I was shaking like a leaf and the lyric sheet I held in my trembling hand was flapping so noisily that I had to ask for a music stand to place it on.

Afraid of my mind going blank

The first time I delivered a public speech I gave myself seven weeks to learn it word for word. I was so afraid I might blank out on stage and forget what I had to say. We could all do with  a bit more confidence, especially when we’re just starting out speaking.

Watch the video to hear the tips I share on how to accomplish this.

Public Speaking – get the most from BUSINESS NETWORKING

In this video we explore why business networking can be great for your public speaking

Clients frequently ask me where they can find more speaking opportunities.

Multiple opportunities to speak to groups

One place you can speak regularly is at business networking groups. There are SO many of them around and many of them have an opportunity to make a 60 second ‘pitch’, sharing your business or your career interests with everyone present.

Although it’s obviously not the same as giving a 45 minute keynote speech, or running a 1-day workshop (!) don’t dismiss the beneficial effects that speaking at networking events can have on your speaking.
