Transcript – How Empathy Is A Superpower For Organisational Success

So empathy is seen as a superpower, amazingly. And there was an article that came out in Forbes, actually, early last, I think it was September last year, and it was saying that empathy is the most important leadership skill, according to research. So an organization called Catalyst polled, I think, 900 people on the topic of empathy and leadership, and they found that these people, a lot of them, felt that empathy was the most important leadership skill. So just a little bit of data about the importance of empathy. So empathy skills are hugely important for managers. 77% of workers said they would work longer hours for an organization that was empathetic. 80% of millennials said they would leave if their employer became less empathetic. 90% of gen said they would leave if their employer became less empathetic. So we’re not messing anymore. Back in the day, when I first started work, empathy was, yeah, okay, nice if you had it, but most employers didn’t. But now it’s seen as an essential skill to teach your workforce.
