Are you too comfortable to be curious? Shola Kaye explores the importance of stepping out of our comfort zones and embracing curiosity to better understand the experiences and feelings of others.

Transcript – Embrace the challenge of empathy beyond your comfort zone

And my question for you is, are you too comfortable to be curious? Because all too often things are going well for us, or we’re just getting on with our routine and we forget to be curious about what s going on for the other people around us. And sometimes being comfortable isn’t about things going well, but it s just we’re in a groove. Maybe we’re comfortable moaning about our manager, we’re comfortable moaning about the commute to work – or we don’t have to commute anymore, sorry – we’re comfortable about something, that we’re just in a groove. But what I’m asking you to do is to take yourself out of that comfort zone and think about the people that you’re interacting with. What’s going on for them? Can you listen a bit more? Can you ask them questions? Can you be curious? So are you too comfortable to be curious?
