Empathy Keynote Speaker – Celebrating Black History Month at Reckitt

Thanks to Reckitt for inviting me to speak about empathy at work and the black experience as part of their black history month celebrations. Turnout was fantastic at around 200 people and it was such a stimulating discussion with loads of comment in the chat and a very active Q&A session. We found time to explore some of the common assumptions made about people of colour and looked at how to broach difficult topics, opening up discussion. We also heard some candid shares from black participants , such as always needing to keep hold of your receipt at Tesco’s because of (unfounded) accusations of shoplifting, and having your comments and experiences ignored because they’re perceived as being outside of the norm. Massive thanks to Nasra Osman and yuanita field, to Jane Farnham and also to Zeetara Simms-Smith Stefan Fernandes MBA, MSc Trannum Rahim Flick Wileman Boni Kaur Sonia Cheema and Catherine Mulhall for your positivity.
